According to Hilliard police, Lane was driving north on Smiley Road, just north of Fishinger Boulevard Carrera Sunglasses, when he drove his Jeep SUV off the west side of Smiley Road and struck a pillar.
Residents came outside to help Lane, police said.
"(Witnesses said) he staggered from the car, then went back and got a knife from the vehicle Oakley Sunglasses," Francis said.
Lane used the knife to threaten witnesses at the scene and to cut his own throat, police said.
Even as police were on the way, witnesses said, Lane's demeanor changed rapidly.
"He was calm and then violent Chanel Sunglasses. At one point, he allowed a man at the scene to cover his cuts with a towel, then he'd become agitated again," Francis said.
